The first step is to measure the window that you want to cover. Measure the width of the window from side to side, and then measure the height of the window from top to bottom. Add 12 inches to the width measurement and 8 inches to the height measurement to allow for the curtain rod and the hem.

Once you have the measurements, you can purchase the fabric for your curtains. You can find fabric at most fabric stores. When choosing fabric, keep in mind the style of your home and the amount of light that you want to block out.

To make the curtains, start by cutting the fabric to the desired size. Then, fold the bottom hem of the curtain up by 4 inches and press it. Fold the hem up again by another 4 inches and press it again. Topstitch the hem in place.
