How To Make A Valance Curtain

Materials You Will Need:

Fabric of your choice
Measuring tape or ruler
Scissors
Sewing machine
Thread

Instructions:

1. Measure the width of your window. Add 6 inches to this measurement for the overlap. This will be the width of your valance curtain.

2. Measure the length of your window from the top of the frame to the desired length of the valance curtain. Add 4 inches to this measurement for the hem. This will be the length of your valance curtain.

3. Cut a piece of fabric to the width and length you measured in steps 1 and 2.

4. Fold the top edge of the fabric over by 1 inch and press it with an iron. Fold it over again by 1 inch and press it again. Stitch the hem in place.

5. Fold the bottom edge of the fabric over by 1 inch and press it with an iron. Fold it over again by 1 inch and press it again. Stitch the hem in place.

6. Fold the side edges of the fabric over by 1 inch and press them with an iron. Fold them over again by 1 inch and press them again. Stitch the hems in place.

7. Turn the valance curtain right side out and press it with an iron.

8. Hang the valance curtain on your window using curtain rods or hooks.
