How To Hang Curtain Rods In Plaster Walls

Plaster walls are a beautiful and classic addition to any home. However, they can be a bit tricky to hang curtain rods in. The key is to use the right tools and techniques. With a little patience, you can easily hang curtain rods in plaster walls without damaging the wall.

Tools You Will Need

Before you begin, gather the following tools:

Curtain rod and brackets
Measuring tape
Level
Drill
Screws
Anchors (optional)

Step 1: Measure And Mark The Location Of The Curtain Rod

Using a measuring tape, measure the distance from the top of the window to where you want the bottom of the curtain rod to be. Mark this spot on the wall with a pencil.

Next, measure the distance between the two ends of the curtain rod. Mark these spots on the wall, making sure that the rod is level.

Step 2: Drill Pilot Holes

Once you have marked the location of the curtain rod, it's time to drill pilot holes. Use a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the screws you will be using.

Drill pilot holes at each of the marked spots. The holes should be deep enough to accommodate the screws, but not so deep that they go all the way through the wall.

Step 3: Install The Anchors (Optional)

If you are hanging a heavy curtain rod, you may want to install anchors to provide additional support. Anchors are small devices that are inserted into the wall to create a stronger hold for screws.
