How To Put Valance On With Curtains

Valances are a great way to add style and sophistication to your windows. They can be used to frame your curtains, or they can be hung on their own. Choose the right valance.

Measure your window.

Once you've chosen a valance, you'll need to measure your window to determine how much fabric you need. To do this, measure the width of your window from one side to the other. Then, measure the height of your window from the top of the frame to the bottom. Add 6 inches to both the width and height measurements to allow for overlap.

Cut the fabric.

Once you know how much fabric you need, you can cut it to size. Be sure to cut the fabric straight, and allow for a 1-inch hem on all sides.

Hem the fabric.

Fold the edges of the fabric over by 1 inch and press them with an iron. Then, fold the edges over again by 1 inch and press them again. Topstitch the hem in place.
