How To Hang Sheers Under Curtains

Sheer curtains are a beautiful way to add privacy and style to your home. They can be hung alone or under curtains to create a layered look. Hanging sheers under curtains is a relatively simple process, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind to ensure that they hang properly.

Materials You'll Need:

Sheer curtains
Curtain rod
Curtain hooks
Measuring tape
Pencil
Scissors
Ladder

Instructions:

1. Measure the height of your window from the top of the frame to the floor. Add 4 inches to this measurement to allow for the hem and the rings or hooks.

2. Cut the sheer curtains to the desired length.

3. Fold the top of the curtains down by 1 inch and press with an iron. Fold the top down again by 2 inches and press again. This will create the hem.

4. Sew the hem in place by hand or machine.

5. Attach the curtain hooks to the top of the curtains, spacing them evenly apart. Ensure to match the hook placement to those on your curtains.

6. Hang the curtain rod above the window frame. Extend the rod beyond the edges of the window by at least 6 inches on each side.

7. Hang the curtains on the rod, starting with the sheers and then the curtains. Ensure that the curtains hang evenly.

Tips:

Choose sheer curtains that are made of a lightweight fabric, such as voile or organza.
If you want to create a more dramatic look, hang the sheers from a separate rod that is mounted above the curtain rod.
To prevent the curtains from blowing in the wind, tie them back with a ribbon or fabric tie.
