Curtain Wrapped Around The Rod
If you're like most people, you probably don't give much thought to your curtains. But if you've ever had to hang a curtain, you know that it can be a bit of a hassle. Especially if your curtains have a rod pocket, which is the sewn-in channel at the top of the curtain that the rod slides through. Trying to get the curtain evenly pleated and the rod evenly spaced can be a major pain.
But there's an easier way to hang curtains: by wrapping them around the rod instead of threading them through the rod pocket. This method is much faster, easier, and it looks just as good. Here's how to do it:
1.Measure the width of your window and add 6 inches. This will be the length of your curtain.
2. Cut a piece of fabric to the desired length. The width of the fabric should be twice the width of your window, plus 6 inches.
3. Hem the top and bottom edges of the fabric.
4. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Press the fold.
5. Open up the fabric and lay it flat. Fold the top edge of the fabric down by 3 inches. Press the fold.
6. Fold the top edge of the fabric down again by 3 inches. Press the fold.
7. Stitch the top edge of the fabric down, close to the edge.
8. Turn the fabric right side out.
9. Insert the rod into the pocket you created in step 7. The rod should be centered in the pocket.
10. Gather the fabric on either side of the rod and evenly distribute the gathers. The gathers should be about 2 inches apart.
11. Tie the gathers together with a piece of string or yarn. Trim any excess string or yarn.
Your curtain is now hung! Enjoy the ease and convenience of this no-sew method.
